SENIOR HR PRACTITIONER: RECRUITMENT, SELECTION & LABOUR RELATIONS

Job Profile:

  • Provide specialist advice and information to all levels of management, supervisors and union
    representatives with regards to labour relations matters, policies and procedures
  • Manage the dispute resolution processes and ensure that Council’s cases are sufficiently prepared, and Council is adequately represented at conciliation and arbitration hearings
  • Facilitate collective bargaining and labour unrest processes
  • Ensure administrative reporting, recording and information maintenance procedures are complied with, and documentation, notices and correspondence compiled are circulated in specific time frames
  • Ensure effective communication with external stakeholders
  • Provide input into the preparation of the capital and operating budget and controls expenditure against approved budget allocations
  • Provide practical training and guidance to management in procedures and applications associated with specific Industrial Relations processes
  • Manage and coordinate the processes and procedures with relation to the recruitment and selection
    functions at all levels
  • Responsible for the administration and support in terms of probation periods
  • Responsible for onboarding/induction of new appointees
  • Manage and supervise the team effectively by planning, organizing and controlling the unit’s activities
  • Collate and prepare information for inclusion into statutory reports
  • Provide support in ensuring that comprehensive risk management is carried out
  • Manage matters relating to the HR Strategy and Plans to ensure adherence
  • Ensure effective management of contracts and compile Bid Specifications/Terms of Reference and
    contracts for Service Providers
    Requirements:
  • A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification in Human Resources Management or related field
  • 8 years or more relevant experience covering a broad range of human resources functions and at least 3 years’ supervisory experience
  • Computer Literacy: MS Office
  • Valid Code B Driver’s licence
  • Language proficiency in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape
  • Required to work after normal working hours, during emergencies and planned overtime
  • Excellent negotiation-, problem-solving-, conflict resolution- and presentation skills
  • Ability to work under severe pressure and adhere to strict deadlines
  • Ability to deal with highly confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Attention to detail and work accurately
  • Must have good interpersonal relations
    Salary band: R444 324 – R576 708 per annum
    Post Level: T13
