he CSIR has an internship opportunity in the Landward Sciences impact areawithin theDefence and Security Cluster. The purpose of this internship is to provide graduates with an opportunity to gain practical work experience through research and development of competitive technologies and innovative products under the guidance of researchers and engineers within cross-functional teams. This opportunity is based in Pretoria.

Key responsibilities:
Under supervision, the intern will be required to:
- Contribute to literature review and report writing of projects;
- Contribute to research experiments at the detonics or chemical laboratory;
- Contribute to health and safety roles in the impact area;
- Present the work done to the team and contribute to research symposiums in related fields;
- Prepare samples, test items, characterise and do data analysis.
Qualifications, skills and experience:
- An Honours degree in chemistry/chemical engineering/physics;
- Must be able to work as part of an interdisciplinary team;
- Must be familiar with safety documents used in the lab and able to obtain or generate these documents;
- Must have basic computer skills;
- Knowledgeable about safety while working in the laboratory;
- Good communication skills (verbal and written).
