Job PurposeThe Department of Agriculture, Western Cape Government has an employment opportunity for a competent and qualified individual to manage all farming activities. The successful incumbent must be willing to work after hours as requested. 
Minimum RequirementsAn appropriate 3 year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in Agriculture; A minimum of 6 months relevant experience; A valid (Code B or higher) driving licence. 
RecommendationRelevant experience (Livestock, cropping, grazing, irrigation related); Staff management experience; Experience in maintenance of machinery.
Key Performance AreasManage natural resources; Manage day-to-day agricultural activities; Implement new and maintain existing infrastructure; Perform all administrative related functions. 
CompetenciesKnowledge of the following: Agricultural related industries; Agricultural related farmin practices and reserach trials; General administrative management Human Resoiurces; Basic financial management skills; Proven computer literacy (MS Office, Internet and Outlook); Communication (written and verbal) skills; Listening skills; Record keeping and filing.
RemunerationR 325 101 – R 382 959 per annum (Salary level 7)Note on remuneration in addition to service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.  
NotesShortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. These candidates will be required to complete a practical assessment and attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments/proficiency tests.
